Technology needs to upgraded so that MSME can gain competitive edge. But where to go for the right and authentic information on these technologies?
To help small scale industries in the region to access the right information about the technologies, a Technology Resources Centre (TRC) has been established in the MSME-DI, Jaipur. The information on wide range of latest Indian and global technologies, R&D Institutions etc., is being compiled for dissemination to willing entrepreneurs.

ISO 9000/ Environment Management System (EMS) ISO - 14001 – Reimbursement Scheme

The pace of economic liberalization and market reform has thrown up different challenges to MSME sector exposing it to global competition. With a view to strengthening the sector, the govt. has extended its support by introducing ISO-9000 / ISO - 14001 reimbursement scheme by which a part of expenditure incurred in obtaining the certification is reimbursed

AWARENESS CUM MOTIVATIONAL PROGRAMMES ON ISO-9000 / ISO-14001

O/o DC(MSME) through MSME-DIs has taken up one/three days duration awareness – cum –motivational programmes on ISO-9000 / ISO-14001 to sensitize the MSME units to adopt the ISO-9000 quality systems.

The purpose of taking up energy conservation programmes is to make entrepreneurs aware about the advantages of new techniques of energy conservation.

ENERGY AUDIT

A well equipped “Energy Audit Cell” is functioning in the MSME-DI, Jaipur rendering its service to the SSI units at nominal charges.

Programs on “Waste Minimisation and Cleaner production” in small scale industries are conducted to assist the sector in over coming the problem of pollution Funds for such program are provided by the Ministry of Environment and Forests.

OZONE LAYER PROTECTION

The stratospheric Ozone layer is being destroyed by human activity i.e. by release of man made chemicals. The chlorine and bromine radicals destroy Ozone leading to reduction of atmospheric Ozone concentration.

The Montreal protocol is a global agreement under the management of UNEP for protection of Ozone layer which has been ratified by India in Sept. 1992.

· SIDO to implement ODS phase out programme through respective SISIs in case of SSI sector.

Registration of SSI units have been done in accordance with Ozone Depleting Substances (Regulation & Control) Rules 2000 which came into effect from 19^th July, 2000.
